STCW Basic Safety

Compliance and reporting around STCW Basic Safety presents challenges as the certificates and qualifications can be presented in multiple ways:
One Certificate: Four Qualifications
These certificates typically list out all the 4 elements of the VI/1 requirements and don't have an expiry date. This means that only PST and FPFF qualifications expire in accordance with regulation.
For this reason, and to enable people to report on and update just the elements that expire, we separate out each of the 4 elements as separate qualifications.
Our system automatically adds a 5 year expiry date to PST and FPFF

One Certificate: One Qualification
This generally states that the qualification is "STCW Basic Safety Training" or "Basic Safety" without listing out the four elements. These certificates normaly tend to have an expiry date which means that the whole qualification needs to be refreshed.

Four Certificates: Four Qualifications
Each Document will need to be scanned and profiled individually with issue and expiry dates reflecting the information on the certificates.
What if the result isn't right?
Our system has a really high success rate of correctly identifying the different types of certificate but should anything be mis-identified the user can always change the information by:
- changing the qualification name
- adding a qualification using the + icon and filling in the information
- removing a qualification by using the bin icon 🗑️
